Elba, AL — February 5, 2026 —Dr. Robert D. Bullard, widely recognized as the “father of environmental justice,” will return to his hometown of Elba, Alabama on February 13, 2026 to lead a powerful public forum addressing infrastructure injustice and community preservation. He will also present a $30,000 personal gift to the Shiloh Community Center, Inc. to support the Center’s mission to seek justice for those impacted by chronic highway flooding.
This latest gift builds upon Bullard’s long-standing commitment to the cause. In July 2025, he previously donated $50,000 to the Shiloh Community Center, underscoring his dedication to both environmental justice advocacy and hometown restoration.
Dr. Bullard, a distinguished professor of urban planning and environmental policy and founding director of the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice at Texas Southern University, has authored 18 influential books and helped shape the national and global conversation on environmental racism, equity, and public policy.
That evening, Dr. Bullard will deliver the keynote address at a public forum titled: “Justice for Shiloh: Why We Must Stop Highway Floodwaters from Washing Away Our History and Intergenerational Wealth.” Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a meet-and-greet and have copies of his award-winning books signed.
This event sponsored by the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice at Texas Southern University in partnership with the Shiloh Community Center, Inc., is free and open to the public.
