American Cancer Society: Black people dying of cancer at a higher rate than all other racial groups

Summary

According to the American Cancer Society, black individuals have the highest mortality rate for most cancers. Furthermore, current FDA statistics reveal that more than 75 percent of clinical trial participants are white for the vast majority of studies, whereas African-Americans and Latinos participate at a rate of 10 percent or less. Due to health inequities, people of various races and ethnicities may react differently to medicines and biologics despite no biological differences. The Diverse Studies Act would reform how agencies conduct clinical trials. To acquire additional data, it may be necessary to use telehealth and local providers. The more minorities in pharmaceutical clinical trials, the better doctors can prescribe treatments for different populations.
